Moving to Hong Kong can be a little bit of an adjustment since housing is extremely expensive, apartments are often smaller than you are used to, and the quality is not always appropriate in relation to the high cost. If you want to live close to Central and the downtown areas you will most likely be living in a high rise apartment. If you don’t mind a commute, the south side of the Island offers more space and townhouses with small gardens. It is extremely rare to be able to lease a private home with a large garden on Hong Kong Island.
