The economy of Hong Kong is often regarded as one of the best examples of free enterprise because of its low taxes, skilful labour force, well-developed financial system and entrepreneurial environment. It is the leading trade and banking centre of Asia.
Hong Kong holds a number of attractions for overseas investors. It is centrally located in South-east Asia and has excellent international communications facilities. The labour force is industrious and hard-working, and industrial wages are low by western standards. Foreign investment in Hong Kong comes primarily from Japan, the United States, other parts of China, Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.
